Abingdon Planning Busy Visitor Season
The town of Abingdon, Virginia is expecting a large number of visitors in 2009 despite the depressed economy, Abingdon’s Tourism Director reports. Also, inquiries about the Virginia Creeper Trail and other Abingdon attractions are up.
This year’s schedule of town events includes three additions: an Oktoberfest celebration, a 1950s-style “sock hop,” and a beach party on Latture Field. A Jimmy Buffett tribute band will be playing and a field of sand provided for the beach party Aug. 15. |

Music on the Mountain
The Creeper Trail Bike Rental and Shuttle Service, located in Whitetop, Virginia, sponsors a weekly jam session at 7:00 PM each Saturday. Music ranges from bluegrass to gospel and musicians are welcome to join it.
