|Coot's Lake Beach|
Coot's Lake is a privately-owned lake with a beach, swimmng and picnicing available. It is open from Memorial Day thru Labor Day, seven days a week.
The beach is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week.
The cost of admission is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children under the age of 10.
Restrictions: No alcohol is permitted on the beach. Also, no glass containers on the beach.
Coot's Lake Beach has a snack bar that sells cold drinks, hotdogs, chips and other snacks.
This will the 48th year the lake has been open.
The lake islocated just four miles east of Rockmart off U.S. Highway 278. It was built between 1956 and 1961 by the late Coolidge C. Hulsey, Sr. (known to friends and family by the nickname "Coot") and his sons by the damming of Hills Creek in Rockmart.
The Lake itself is formally known as "Lake Coolidge Fun in the Sun, Inc." but is better known to locals and all visitors as "Coot's Lake."
The Silver Comet Trail passes right by the lake and a parking area (Coot's Lake Trailhead) is located near the lake entrance.
