Surface: Hard Pack Gravel from Alabama Line for 8.5 miles, Smooth Asphalt next 24.5 miles

• Cyclists and skaters should wear helmets.
• Use the buddy system.
• Use the trail only during daylight hours.
• Walkers have the right of way.
• Climbing on bridges and railing is prohibited.
• Use extreme caution while crossing bridges.

The Chief Ladiga Trail is maintained by Cleburne County and Calhoun County for their respective sections.

History of Trail:

Alabama’s Chief Ladiga Trail rails-to-trails project began in 1990 when the Calhoun County Commission and the city of Piedmont purchased 22-miles of abandoned railroad corridor.

Weather:

The Chief Ladiga Trail is open year-round. Average snowfall in the area is 1" per year. The best time to visit is April through October if you like mild weather. The current conditions shown on the right are for Anniston at the southwestern end of the trail.
